# Source road terrain variants r311

## Mesh families added

A second scan of the eight exported L4R city GLBs found that road material
slices also sit on terrain and course meshes whose names differ from the
previous `TERRAINA_CHOP` and standard road forms. The road-role matcher now
covers the source families below:

- `TERRAIN*_NR_CHOP`, `TERRAIN*_NRND_CHOP`, generic `TERRAIN_CHOP`, and
numbered terrain chunks carrying lane, intersection, parking, road-grill,
  road-strip, or airport/drift road-patch materials.
- `TRN_CC_TERRAIN*` and `TRN_IP_TERRAIN_*` pavement chunks carrying
  `RDP_AIRPORT_ROADPATCH_A`.
- `TRN_ROADSKID*_CHOP`, `TRN_TUNNEL*_CHOP`, `TRN_PARKINGLOT*_CHOP`,
  `TRN_DRIFTMARKER*_CHOP`, `TRN_DRIFTSZ*_CHOP`, and `TRN_CONCRETE_*_CHOP`.

The matcher still selects road behavior by both the mesh role and the RDP
material. In the browser classifier check, parking, tunnel lane, airport skid,
drift score, airport road patch, and ordinary city lane examples resolve to
road composite modes. `RDP_GRAVEL_A_CK` on an industrial terrain chunk and
`RDP_ROADSTRIP_FREEWAYCE` on a tunnel ceiling both resolve to mode 0.

Across the eight city GLBs, the expanded patterns match 9,822 uses of the
road material families under review. The 542 remaining uses include 327
`FREEWAYCE` strips on ceiling meshes, foundation uses of airport road-patch
maps, racing berms, and a small set of property/dock meshes. They are kept
outside the broad street rules until their source roles are resolved; this
count is a material-role audit, not proof that every included use is a drivable
road.

## Packaged browser check

Chrome 150 loaded the packaged r311 L4RA view at Route 450, distance 550. The
page reached `City scene ready` with 22,508 nearby triangles, 128 textures,
832 routes, and 12 ambient body models. The nearby scene query returned two
`TRN_CS_TERRAINA_NRND_CHOP_*` chunks using `RDP_PARKING_NL_AA_KT`; those are
accepted by the new terrain rule. The 240SX remained on the marked roadway
with ambient traffic visible. The same frame still shows dark pavement and the
flat player-car finish. This checks role selection and the packaged render,
not exact city-wide placement, retail lighting, or handling.
