# L4RA default player lane start, r166

The default L4RA start uses retail free-roam route 450 at 525 m. A fresh
packaged Chrome probe found its waypoint center on the yellow center marking
from `RDP_LANEA_YS_AA_KT`. Sampling that source texture across the route center
gave a maximum paint score of 0.400. The lane-selection heuristic rejected it
with its prior 0.45 minimum, leaving the player straddling the marking.

The route exports a positive selector-3 corridor offset of 2.147827 m. At that
offset the source road texture sample has paint score 0, and the position is
supported by the exported road triangles. Revision r166 lowers only the
nearby-stripe detection threshold to 0.35; the candidate must still reduce the
sampled paint score by at least 0.2 and pass the existing road-surface check.
An explicit `startLateral` URL value continues to override automatic placement.

After rebuilding the package, the default start reports `requestedLateral`
2.147827 m. Holding W for 2.2 seconds moved the car about 34 m, reached 29 mph
on the HUD, and produced no road-failure record. The packaged screenshot is

This uses the recovered route corridor and source road texture to select a
supported start lane. It remains a static preview approximation; the retail
traffic action's live FuturePoint candidate weights are not available in the
export.
