# Player paint live render audit, r419

The packaged viewer was inspected in host Chrome at `http://127.0.0.1:8095/dist/webgl-city/?debug`; the XP guest was not used for rendering. The page reached `City scene ready`, uploaded all 223 nearby textures, and reported no page exception or console error.

The player is the 240SX. Its live debug state reports:

- selected player color `#858c94` and finish `default`;
- four draw batches classified as unresolved `paint_body` materials;
- no body base-color texture on those batches;
- the expected selected color converted to linear RGB `[0.23455, 0.26225, 0.29614]`;
- the city environment texture loaded and the local reflection capture ready.

A same-scene capture with the explicit `gloss` finish uses finish mode 1 rather than default mode 2. The selected pigment and missing body texture are unchanged. Visually, that switch alone does not make the body read as convincing paint. No shader or default finish change was promoted from this comparison.

This evidence rules out failed nearby-texture upload and an unbound reflection texture as the immediate cause. The remaining source gap is the retail player paint binding/state at the body draw: the installed car texture catalogs do not contain the body paint image, and the extracted `DEFAULT` state is an effect payload rather than a resolved pigment texture/RGB. The XP guest's weak virtual GPU prevents validating live retail appearance there; host Wine is not installed, so this pass did not run the retail game on the host either.
