# L4RA MegaLight black-shape slice audit, r208

## Result

The large black piece at the upper-left of the default drive view is isolated
to the `XO_MEGALIGHTA_1A_00_0_2` mesh slice. Hiding only that mesh-name prefix
removes the piece from the captured view while leaving the other two slices of
the MegaLight and the rest of the scene visible. Hiding `_0_0` (the
`ARC_SHINY_METAL2` slice) or `_0_1` (the `OBJ_SHOEBOX` slice) does not remove
it. The filter was used only for this diagnostic capture and is not enabled in
the packaged viewer.

The slice uses texture-slot key `0x2e95ce7d`, which has no matching image in
the eight installed regional STREAM TPK tables, `GLOBALB.BUN`, or
`LOC4DYNTEX.BIN`. Its material-slice `matid` is `255`, so it has no associated
hash in the source material-hash list. The newer exporter preserves the missing
texture key in the GLB material extras instead of collapsing it to a generic
keyless `prop`. The vertex-color accessor contains RGB values from black
through 128, so the current city prelight path can render some faces very dark.
This identifies the source texture slot and the limits of the static data; the
retail material/light state remains unresolved. The r208 package retained the
slice; the r211 package now omits only ranges with this exact image-less key
after a separate normal-view A/B capture confirmed the opaque fallback artifact
was visible on both the L4RA MegaLight and L4RD light pole. See the
[`0x2e95ce7d` follow-up](city-unresolved-slot-2e95ce7d-r211.md).

## Packaged Chrome capture

The normal `/dist/webgl-city/` view reached `City scene ready` in Chrome 150
with 90,091 nearby triangles and 221 textures. It reported no page or console
errors. The diagnostic with only `XO_MEGALIGHTA_1A_00_0_2` hidden reported
88,171 triangles and the same 221 textures, also with no page or console
errors.

- [Diagnostic with the MegaLight `prop` slice hidden](../webgl-city/review/images/320-r208-hide-megalight-prop.png)
- Both images are in the [scrollable Chrome review feed](../webgl-city/review/).

The experimental city-metal reflection shader was removed in this revision:
the earlier A/B capture showed no meaningful visual improvement, and the
retail material/light equation is not recovered. The sky panorama remains
available to the vehicle shader.
