# L4RA dark angular geometry audit, r207

## Current packaged view

The normal packaged viewer at `/dist/webgl-city/` loaded to `City scene ready`
in Chrome 150 with 90,091 nearby triangles, 221 nearby textures, and all 12
ambient body models. The default car start uses route 450 and its sampled lane
offset is about 2.15 world units to the right of the route center. The current
capture shows authored pavement markings and nearby buildings and traffic. It
still has dark angular silhouettes at the upper edges of the view.

## Prefix isolation

The sky dome is not the source: hiding `SKYDOME_` leaves the silhouettes.
Hiding all `XO_` meshes removes them, and the narrower `XO_M` filter also
removes the prominent pieces. Hiding only `XO_MONUMENT` does not. In the
reduced-radius diagnostic, hiding `XO_MEGALIGHT` removes the nearby silhouettes
while retaining the rest of the drive scene. This points to the MegaLight
family, but does not establish whether the objects' placement, selected source
variant, or rendered material response differs from retail.

The nearest `XO_MEGALIGHTA_1A_00` instance is about 73 m from the default start.
Its source mesh bounds are approximately 26 by 26 by 19 units. Its material
slices reference the extracted `ARC_SHINY_METAL2` and `OBJ_SHOEBOX` textures;
these are present in the GLB, so the dark appearance is not caused by a missing
texture. The viewer's city shader has no recovered retail material/light
equation for this shiny-metal surface.

No permanent mesh filter was added. MegaLight fixtures are source-authored
street scenery, and suppressing them would remove real scene content. The next
rendering investigation should trace the source material/prelight setup for
these fixtures or compare their view with a retail gameplay capture.
