# Car harmonic shader visual comparison, r415

## Host browser result

The packaged L4RA viewer was opened in Chrome 150/WebGL2 on the host GPU at
`?car=240SX&region=L4RA&route=450&distance=525&radius=160`, first with the
normal viewer shader and then with `?carShader=retail-fallback`. Both captures
used a 1280×720 viewport and were taken after the ready-state overlay had faded.
The player remained stationary at the same Route 450 start. Both scenes reached
`City scene ready`; no page exceptions, console errors, or failed requests were
reported.

The default viewer shows the existing silver-gray `#858c94` body fallback. The
opt-in path evaluates the decompiled retail programmable-car equations with the
conditional L4RA fallback harmonic coefficients derived in the offline
reference. Its identity transform choices are explicitly experimental, and in
this view it makes the 240SX body nearly charcoal. This is not a visual
improvement and is not evidence of the retail paint color. The default path
was left unchanged.

The comparison is in review feed item 449:

## Material evidence

The installed 240SX geometry's body paint slot has no matching image in the
local or shared installed texture catalogs; see
[`player-paint-texture-source-audit-r283.md`](player-paint-texture-source-audit-r283.md).
The `DEFAULT` record in `GLOBALB.BUN` contains 24 floats used by the retail
material/effect path. Those are shader parameters, not a direct pigment RGB;
the active player paint selector, actual body binding, and lighting transform
remain uncaptured. See
[`paint-state-payload-audit-r357.md`](paint-state-payload-audit-r357.md) and
[`car-programmable-shaders-r267.md`](car-programmable-shaders-r267.md).

No paint value or shader coefficient was changed from this comparison. The next
appearance work should use a recovered runtime binding or improve a separate
source-backed part of the WebGL build, rather than promoting this darker
fallback.
